Johnnie Walker Red Label was launched in its current form by brothers George and Alexander Walker in 1909. Alexander blended a type of whisky which is more suited to mixing with soda than the heavier, more old-fashioned whiskies and named it both after his grandfather, who had started the family business in 1820, and the inspiration from fans of the previous Walker’s Special Old Highland whisky who took to calling it by the colour of its label. This blend is made for mixing in exhilarating cocktails, bringing together whiskies specially chosen for their bold, vibrant flavors that add a fiery kick. The flavour is fresh and spicy with vibrant apple and citrus fruitiness, cinnamon and pepper spice and a warming smoky finish.
